On midterms and Avengers

IMG_8925.JPG

Hello world, long time, no speak. Since last time I was on here, midterms happened. That dreadful week created by university administrators and professors to torment students with trauma and lack of sleep for two weeks straight before telling you that it’s not really going to count all that much towards your final grade, leaving you in a fetus position on your bed watching re-runs of Community and asking yourself why you chose to subject yourself to grad school twice. Or you know, that might have just been what my week was like.

In other, non-related news, I felt like it was time for another installment of my favorite things right now. At the top of the list of my favorite-favorite things right now is the Avengers 2, mainly because James Spader nailed it as “James Spader playing Ultron”. Have you guys noticed how, not unlike Robert Downey Jr., James Spader is somehow always playing some reiteration of the same character. Luckily, for both of them, it works.

In addition to that (no spoilers!) I really liked the way director extraordinaire Joss Whedon focused on the team as a whole in this one, and not just the trio who have their own stand-alone movies (Steve Rogers, Thor Odinson and Tony Stark respectively). It makes me excited for the future of the Marvel-machinery, that they dare to focus on the less “super” heroes of the bunch, and do it well. I actually really liked Hawkeye in this movie! Captain America: Civil War, and the Infinity War-movies cannot come to a theater near me soon enough.
