Palm trees and sunshine

palmesus

The busiest weekend of the summer is over, and I’ve spent the entire day on the couch watching TV and generally not moving a muscle (with the exception of a short trip up the street to get some Indian food with the parents). Palmesus has become an annual tradition, and this year (my fourth year covering the party as journalist/photographer) was by far the best one yet. Great crowds, perfect weather and a line-up that ended with a surprise performance by every Norwegian’s childhood hero Kaptein Sabeltann (Captain Sabertooth).

Seeing girl crush Charli XCX rock the stage was a personal highlight during the two-day marathon of an event, and I’m still playing her songs on repeat four days later. Another highlight was meeting and interviewing the one and only Fatboy Slim (father of house music and recipient of my “Most adorable old guy ever”-award this decade). I’ve never been as starstruck in my semi-adult life as I was when I met him on Friday, and I even got to take a selfie with the man to commemorate the moment.

Want to see what Palmesus, Scandinavia’s largest beach party, looks like? Here’s a video I put together Friday night after the fireworks had faded and everyone else were sleeping off the alcohol.
