Spent last week in Colorado, swimming around in 46 inches of fresh powder at ANSA Winter Games in Breckenridge. After 5 months of planning via Skype from Hawaii, California and Vancouver, the board members of ANSA USA and ANSA Canada (that means us) gathered in Breck to welcome over 90 Norwegian students to a weekend of skiing, after-ski(ing) and loads of singing.
The roads from Denver up into the mountains where packed with locals who spoke of the best snowfall in years, and we got to enjoy powder and elevation sickness in a beautiful mix fit for any college student. Did you know that it takes a lot less alcohol to get your mood going when you’re 2,926 meters above sea level? I didn’t. Or at least I’d never thought about it until I got to Breck and the legendary after-ski we arranged at the lodge we were renting.
Luckily there was at least one oxygen bar in town, which we took over on Sunday morning to cure some of the hangover. It worked surprisingly well.
