Back in 2011, when my family first came to visit me in Hawaii, we took the open water diver certificate with North Shore company Deep Ecology. Since then I’ve fell victim to what happens to most people who take a certificate, life gets in the way and you forget to go out and use your new-found liberty. Since taking my certificate I’ve only been diving once (last fall). So yesterday, with the family back on the island for my graduation, we decided to go out and explore Hawaiian waters again.
Once again, Deep Ecology was our diving company of choice. Starting from the harbor at Ward, with the sun shining down on us, we headed out the reefs outside of Honolulu. With two boat dives, one at Turtle Canyon and the other at Horseshoe Reef, we got to see Hawaiian Green turtles, Moorish idols, triggerfish, whitetip reef sharks, and several kinds of moray eel.
Do you scuba dive?
Wow this is incredible! I wish I could scuba dive or lived where I could, it looks amazing! x
Daria: It was! I never really get used to living in Hawaii, and seeing turtles. They’re amazing creatures.
