I was sorting through some of my old stuff today, and in one of my notebooks I found the lyrics from Jamie Cullum’s Twentysomething. Reading through them there were two seconds where I thought that I had written them myself, simply because the song really is the story of my life for the past 3 years. The first verse reads:
“After years of expensive education
a car full of books, and anticipation
I’m an expert on Shakespeare and that’s a hell of a lot
but the world don’t need scholars as much as I thought.”
My BA in English Literature right there. If you’re in the same shoes as I am, at a crossroad between education and the rest of your life; singing it out loud in the jazzy way that Jaime Cullum does is highly recommended. And fun!
That being said I wouldn’t want it any other way, change is terrifying and exciting, and I will always welcome it into my life!
In other, non-related news I met and interviewed Steve Aoki this weekend. That was pretty cool.
I love that song!
Sorry you feel that way though.
Jamie Cullum always makes everything better, doesn’t he?
Vilde: Change is both exciting and terrifying at the same time. And I wouldn’t have it any other way!
