The streets of Singapore

Singapore-150324-15

I looked out of the window and there were stars all around the airplane. It took me a while to realize that what I was seeing was all the stars in the sky mirrored by the lights of fishing boats dotting the sea below. No light pollution. It was like a scene out of Life of Pi. And then we flew in over land, and Singapore lay below us in a pool of light. The city state that has transformed into one of richest places on earth in the space of 50 years, and this past week mourned its founding father Lee Kuan Yew.

A humid, beautiful and weird melting pot of East and West, not unlike Hong Kong but with more influence from the Indian peninsula. During my 3 days in the city I got to see, eat and enjoy vast and very different parts of the city, and got a taste for a city that I am most definitely returning to visit in the future. From delicious breakfast-toast with kaya and Singaporean coffee, to a morning walk among the super trees of Garden by the Bay, I got a taste of both the new and the old Singapore. Here are some of my photos from the trip, stay tuned for more!
