My 2016-list

korea

We’re fifteen days into the new year and the talk of New Year’s resolutions have started to die down, both in the media and on Facebook. I’m not one for New Year’s resolutions (I usually forget about them come day 7 of 365), but I do like goals, and lists. As a result of this, and lots of free time, I’ve set up a list of (realistic) goals for the coming year. Things I want to achieve, do, see and feel. My life revolves around lists: lists of deadlines, list of ideas, shopping lists, packing lists, homework lists. I think the only way I can actually achieve most things in my life, or at least remember that I’m supposed to try to achieve them, is by writing it down. So here’s my 2016-list of things that will make me feel happier, smarter, cooler or simply amazing. Mindfulness and such things.

  1. Sleep under the stars
  2. Don’t complain about anything for a week
  3. Watch the sunrise and sunset in the same day
  4. Read 25 books
  5. Reach level 2 in Korean
  6. Donate blood
  7. Do some kind of volunteer work (ANSA does not count)
  8. Build a snowman
  9. Go hiking in at least 4 different countries:
Done: Taiwan, Korea, Norway, Sweden, Japan & Hong Kong
  10. Write a short story
  11. Learn how to cook a new delicious meal
  12. Host a dinner party and serve said delicious meal
  13. Visit 5 different museums in Seoul (3 down, 2 to go)
  14. Say yes to something I would not normally do
  15. Ride a camel
  16. Go camping
  17. Watch an Elvis movie
  18. Complete 50 push-ups in one go
  19. Take a free online class
  20. Learn to identify 10 constellations
  21. Attend a ballet class (for nostalgia’s sake)
  22. Read War & Peace, by Tolstoy <– started reading it, doubt I’ll finish it before 2017
  23. Win something
  24. Continue to take one photo every day (like I did in 2015)
  25. Find the perfect pair of ballet flats

Important to end it on a purely superficial level! Especially considering I’ve been searching for the perfect flats for over 4 years. I can be picky sometimes.

What are your 2016-goals?
